We all know that sometimes, people may hurt, antagonize, or just might be plain rude to you. And yes, of course our sin nature is to want to be rude or hurt them back..but in times like these, we really need to remember what God says about this and how we should really think and act. I mean, Jesus was nailed on a cross, was spit at, and had His head full of thorns. Not once did He think or do anything evil or threaten them. Matthew 5:43-48 says "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be sons of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect" . . Yes, even when our enemies crush us down and persecute us, we need to still love them. Trust me, I know it's hard to love someone who just beats you down, but we really just need to do what's Christ honoring and isn't that ultimately what we want to do as believers. Honor Christ in all that we do?
I thought I might share this with my friends. Hope y'all have a great week!
Love to all!
God bless!
Thanks for sharing this! The Lord has been teaching me a lot on this subject and I'm not that great of a student! lol.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, it's encouraging to be reminded of what God says about forgiveness and to hear your thoughts.

One thing we should definitely not do is allow people to continually hurt us by their mean words or actions. We are to separate ourselves from those people who do evil and mean things. Yes, we are to forgive them ( even before they ask for it ), we should also pray for them too. I've been through a lot of hurt but letting people continually do evil to you is totally wrong. You are to walk the other way. As 1 Thess 5:22. '' Avoid every kind of Evil.''
ReplyDeleteI agree with Katey! Though there must be room made for knowing we are all sinners and will inevitably hurt each other. We can't remove ourselves from everyone. But if someone is continually being hurtful or cruel, the only option seems to be removing oneself and praying for them.
ReplyDeleteI love you girls and the way you seek God! <3
Yes, There does come a time where you will need to remove yourself, like you said, if they continually hurt you. . but if you removed yourself from every hurtful thing that someone has done to you, you would never be able to be a good testimony to those who don't know about Christ. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Kathrine! It's always encouraging hearing from others!
ReplyDeleteI agree with you KattyRae! ;-)
